AshX focusing issues with eyes
You know, last 2 days I tested monitor which is 8-bit according to panel datasheet, and has hardware low blue light shift to the right
First of all, I found it hard to focus on screen / text. It looks like text below the screen. In panel edges, I found 3d effect - icons looks much closer to me than background.
After finish using it, I got brain strain, as more use monitor.
My conclusion.
1) backlight has good blue light, but also big red double peak ( KSF phosophor ) which is very saturated, only using nvidia sRGB I was able to limit gamut
2) panel could be 8-bit as datasheet talks. But use kind of
2.1 lowpass filtering - signal loose sharpening details. I can not see jpeg artifacts ( ring ) on objects edge in walpaper image. Image looks wanished
2.2 temporal dithering ( smoothing ) or noise reduction, which apply over image
3. Monitor use DC dimming
Today I use old 6+FRC monitor. And I feel only little eye-pressure, I suppose due to blue peak at ~445 nm. No brain strain, no issues with eye-focus
