Lauda89 Can I know the name of that doctor?
I tried to send you a PM but I cannot find you in the chat. Can you please check? Thanks.
martin Did she also check for vertial heterophoria, or circular heterohoria?
Shame on me, I should have contacted you ahead of time given your experience, but my stay home was short and very hectic, and I forgot. I do believe the doctor checked my eyes for horizontal and vertical misalignment. I recall tests implying horizontal and vertical movements. I have no problems sharing with you the doctor's feedback privately, if you are interested. You will have to translate to English though. Please let me know.
martin I hope you can manage to find someone who can give a proper diagnosis, as this convinces me that we all have some BVD, however not everyone can reach a specialist that can do a proper diagnosis.
Have you asked your specialist if he has ever met a guy with heterophoria / strabismus who does not have our symptoms? I asked the specialist I went to, and he said I was the first person to report such troublesome experience with electronic devices, especially the symptoms' dependence on the version of the graphic card driver or the OS, and their nearly instantaneous onset. He has definitely seen people with severe eye dysfunctions compared to myself. What he finds most puzzling is that the eyestrain and neck pain kick in immediately in my case. He would expect them to be at least fatigue-driven.
Do not get me wrong, please. You are skeptic about some doctors out there. I have no doubts about the skills and the knowledge of your specialist, and, as you know, I even tried to set up an appointment with him in spite of the short time I was in Europe, but please allow me to have the opposite concern. Is not there the risk that some extent of heterophoria is eventually a contributory cause, yet not the main culprit of our symptomatology?
My point is that there is hardly someone with perfect eyes, perfect posture, perfect body. Last June I injured myself at my low back. Since then I have been struggling jogging without pain, yet all the exams I did including NMR were negative. Instead there are people with hernia and no symptoms. That is just an example. Another is that I have been under acupuncture treatment for 16 months, and I have not seen any clear improvement. Yet the specialist does not give up.
I totally agree with you that if you discover a disfunction, you'd better try to cure it, but, to be honest, I am now a bit reluctant to believe it is a pure eye misalignment thing. My skepticism stems from my personal experience, and from reading that no one on this forum has completely cured his / her issues in spite of months of treatment, prismatic lenses, vision therapy etc. etc.
I fear we are missing out on something.
