Gurm Is it possible to see dithering more clearly with a Magnifying glass?
hpst and hpst The main root cause is not just a single thing. It's a combination of things. There are external aspects and internal aspects of it. The internal aspect is something to do it your eye or brain or nerve, or whatever. It happens inside your body. That's why you feel it and someone next to you dont. But that alone only happens when external factors trigger it.
So maybe dithering on old panels arent a issue because they are in below the danger threshold. The safe zone. In new led's the high blue spike, just make the dithering not safe at all. Because maybe the dithering + intense blue light trigger your inner condition. Maybe for some internal working of the eyes, the blue cones is different. And the red cones and green cones are located in different position of the eye than the blue ones. Maybe because the blue light in Led are really intense and the dithering just reacts more the eye, and causes the pain in muscle/eye/inflamation/whatever. Or has nothing to do it cones but with photo-ganglion cells, that are mainly affected in the blue spectrum: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2151130/
martin PWM is not all equal to our eyes/brain. This kind of PWM:

is much less harsh on eyes/brain than this one:

martin i dont understand how convergence theory and than only one eye can have the same effect can both be true. Doesn't compute to me. But i am not say it's wrong. Just doesn't make sense to me.
martin I believe i have some convergence issue, i will have my eyes tested. Just have to check for the right doctor.
