That's not as simple a question as it sounds. I use many computers and virtual machines. My interface pc mainly uses dell quadro k4000 video cards with the NVIDIA 390 driver https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/151568/en-us. as for building a silent PC, I went with the unorthodox approach of putting it 2 rooms away and used 50 foot display port cables. My monitors are Dasung Paperlike Pros (3) and Benq GC2870s (2). I have a box full of video cards, but I only use Nvidia now because of the dithering setting in the driver. The OS is usually some version of linux Mint 19.

      I also never use any LCD without Uvex Skypers on. the expensive pc glasses are worthless, the cheap orange safety glasses are much better. I don't think this is as much about blue light as it is about blocking one channel in the RGB signal. if blue is blocked you can't see 1/3 of the sub pixels, eliminating one channel of flicker (due to polarity inversion). That is my hypothesis anyway, since natural light has a ton of blue light and is fine for me.

        I also use no compositor Marco(no compositor) and disable anti-aliasing and never use and sort of font enhancing algorithm. I also disable hardware acceleration in Firefox. I am not sure how much effect these things have, as the dithering setting in the driver and using a true 8 bit va panel without FRC seem to be by far the biggest issues, but it seems like the problem is cumulative and gets worse after longer exposure so you can never be too careful. In one environment the same sorts of symptoms seemed to be triggered by a very high freq sound (maybe?): I know for sure things that cause the issue, but I am not sure how comprehensive the list is. I am convinced it is a sensory input disorder caused by prolonged neural entertainment. there have never been any studies on the prolonged effects of neural entrainment. If smoking safety studies only looked at the dangers of a single cigarette, they would be deemed completely safe.

          ShivaWind I did think about a silent build, with Seasonic PSU, Nofan and KalmX Nvidia GPU. That's on hold for now due to this whole flicker situation. The NUC I bought recently has a silent mode in the BIOS and is pretty quiet, but turboboost always kicks in, I can switch that off and fan speeds remain stable (and very quiet) but lose a bit of CPU overhead. Either way, that machine isn't in use due to symptoms šŸ™. I'm not selling it yet as I eventually want to use it!

          I saw the link on another thread re: Color e-ink. That is exciting news and it would be great if it could achieve 60hz one day.

            Yeah, I don't think it needs to be prolonged for everyone, but my thoughts on my situation are similar to neural entertainment.

              ShivaWind yeah, I think noise fits into the equation as well.. I just ordered a likebook mars android reader. hoping it works for me. [entrainment is the word i think?]

                a year later

                I got the Dasung Paperlike HD a week ago. I have not had a headache all week. I was getting headaches every day up until then. I am able to watch movies and shows on it. There is some "ghosting" but I don't mind it. Able to browse web and program of course. I am still evaluating, but so far I like it. The monitor size is big enough too.

                I have been using Dasung for more than 3 years. It is a real life saver for me!

                  Iā€™m seriously considering getting a Dasung. They have a new 23" widescreen coming! But for now the paper like hd3 would have to do. How does everyone like it? Seems pricey but could be a life saver!

                    Gurm and... front light or no? I figure I donā€™t need touch but how is the front light?

                      You claim yo have some sort of PTSD triggering by high pitched sounds, and also by noisy PCs that donĀ“t let you concentrate. So, my question is: would it be possible that you also suffer from mild hyperacusis? I just ask because I have both conditions, which are probably related.

                      Most people are not even familiarized with condition, even the term.
