Thought I'd share an odd little project with you guys.
In my experiments trying to remove polarisation from lcds I created this:
The pictures don't quite do it justice, it doesn't looks so fuzzy in real life. It successfully removed the light polarisation, but as a by product its created a very nice paper like effect...
...which unfortunately really does not show on these pictures! Its also not my best work, but the first time I have made one for a screen larger than a phone. Its perfectly usable though, and very comfortable for text. I'll probably remake this one though to reduce the blurriness a bit more and make the effect less patchy.
So how to make one of these?
To start you need a screen protector, I get my large screen ones from https://www.protectionfilms24.com/ for about £20 for a 15" screen. Gets progressively more expensive as the display size increases.
Then you need a can of spray glue and some high quality tracing paper.
I use 3m remount which dries fairly clear, and C-trace tracing paper. I've used 90gsm paper here, but I've gotten better results in the past with their 60gsm paper.
Simply spray an even coating of glue onto the tracing paper, stick the screen protector down, and using a ruler or similar try to get a good/even contact between the protector/glue/paper.
The end result looks pretty opaque and messy, but much better with the screen on
Doesn't work so well on phones, as the higher DPI screens distort lots, but its usable if you are patient and zoom in on text.
So what did I achieve with this? well I had a moto G4 that gave me immediate and severe migraines. With this applied it gave me mild migraines, inconsistently. I'm currently trying it out on devices that only cause eye strain with no results yet.
