I am trying the Dell S2719DGF soon. 144 Hz TN like the LG but 29 cdm lowest luminance vs 89 cdm or something like that on the LG. Interested also in the Acer Nitro xf252q. This is a newer 240 Hz TN panel revision with a better response time, but the minimum luminance is also very high.
Second! just thinking this morning I needed to report back on this monitor as well. I came close to sending mine back as it was giving me headaches, but decided to keep it & i'm glad i did. It was hard to dial in as it can get super bright, but i keep it on the 'reader' preset with Radeon 580, Displayport, 144hz and reduced RGB. Gaming in 144 is a huge difference.
These reports on high Hz monitors are very helpful, I hope to try a few this year when I have a salary again.
reaganry Yeah I heard about that trick. Is that what you are referring to going into the RGB and lowering all three values? I haven't done that myself but heard it dims the monitor more. It seems a lot of people on this site have issues with LED brightness. As they are almost all double the brightness of any CRT.
Something must be wrong with white LED and white OLED in general. I hope purple LED bulbs and purple backlights are entering the end-user market soon. There's no other lighting technology in sight. It started with monitors but now that everyone keeps replacing incandescents with LED bulbs, for those of us who have that brightness issue (on top of pixel eye strain, flicker and motion issues!) displays might soon be the least of our problems.
KM I agree the lighting industry needs a kick in the butt. Almost nothing has changed in 15 years and they are still releasing the same CRI 80 crappy LED bulbs. I think in terms of monitors though we can thank Esports and people like Mark at Blur Busters for pushing these things to incredible levels. The new ViewSonic XG270 monitor has been tuned by Blur Busters and is supposed to reach levels of motion clarity that even the most famous CRT can't reach. Apparently a few monitor makers have paired up with Blur Busters and they can now receive firmware updates make them more accurate if they have the Blur Busters approval stamp on them. https://www.blurbusters.com/blur-busters-approved/

reaganry So by applying these settings the LG24GL600F became usable for long hours use? Also is it usable with the latest W10 update? I have postponed updating my monitor in the office (I am the only one!). The company i work pushes windows updates for security reasons (accountancy firm) so there is no way to avoid this. Actually my job's Dell Inspiron 15 was usable a couple of years ago but not anymore. I can only work if it is plugged in to an old LG 19" CCFL.
Peter I feel bad recommending anything as I believe everyone here processes screens in a different way. This screen works for me no matter what I have hooked up to it. The only requirement on computer use is I turn the over drive to normal. Originally when I first got the screen I used to think it was too bright but once I turned the over drive to normal for internet use and reading no issues. I have Ubuntu 14.04 and windows 10 each hooked up as I the two of these monitors. I also play ps4, PS3 and switch and a bunch of other systems and nothing causes strain for me.

reaganry I'm not at home at the moment. I believe it's labeled as response time. Look for off, Normal, Fast, Fastest. I put it on normal for web browsing and reading. PS3/PS4 I put it on fast. My FPGA SNES/Genesis,NES I put it on fastest.
jasonpicard i finally figured out how to turn response time to 'off' and black stabilizer to 0 & it's a big difference ! feels immediately relaxing -thanks. both were locked (Fast/50) in 'Reader' mode. so many new settings lol
reaganry Yeah I was confused at first as I thought when it was set to faster and I was reading stuff I would think the screen was too bright. When I switched the setting I have no issues and no longer think the screen is too bright. I think for me I have the black stabilizer at 65. Yeah I believe the overdrive settings are mostly for gaming. Its getting to the point where I think playing on this screen is better for my eyes then my plasma TV's. Movies though I think it's terrible but that is just my opinion. I'm too picky
I got the LG24GL600F-B an hour ago. For now it seems quite comfortable but at the same time i feel a bit weird perhaps due to the size? Never had monitor more than 21 inches.
So the settings are: gamer 1 mode, response time to normal, black stabilizer to zero and refresh rate to 120hz which is the maximum in my laptop. I have hooked up the display to my work laptop Dell Inspiron 15. Any other settings? For example at what brightness level? I have it at 30% and it seems too bright.
Peter My suggestion would be to play with the black stabilizer as mine is set to 65. Each person probably is different with this. It's possible you could generate a different result having it hooked up to a laptop vs a tower. I believe when you hook up to a laptop you usually get signal degradation. If you are fine though that's good news! You can control the gamma which will reduce the back light. I have my brightness to zero I'm pretty sure. I lowered the gamma forget which way lowers the brightness but you can tell when you are adjusting it. If you still think it's too bright but hopefully not you can use the windows 10 night mode thing. I don't use that though as I'm pretty fine with it the way it's set. I wish you luck.
jasonpicard Thanks for the tips. For some reason i find instant relief when the black stabilizer is set to zero. I have also enabled the night mode in windows and the brightness is now fine. Will test for a few days to see how to it goes.
