There are some theories and hypotheses about the causes of eyestrain and other symptoms.
Based on all the evidence, it is highly unlikely that there could be one single underlying cause or one single underlying mechanism.
It would be nice to have all the theories in one place, so here is an attempt at systematization.

Theories

  1. Neuroinflammation
    Jen's website flickersense.org
  2. Binocular vision dysfunction (BVD)
    Martin's website about heterophoria
Cannot explain all the cases. Example
  3. Brain activity

Mrak0020 I didnt know about Jens website, thanks for that link here. I wrote her, she doesnt seem to know about the issues connection to BVD.

Regarding that case of the one eyed person - that is really unique. There could still be some accomodation problems, which only affect one eye. Those usually result in a burning feeling and bloodshot eyes. I had to train accomodation in each of my eyes separately for months before training binocular vision.

martin As I wrote, based on all the evidence, it is highly unlikely that there could be one single underlying cause or one single underlying mechanism - BVD including.
For example, PWM influences healthy people, while leading to a similar set of symptoms.
Jen doesn't know a lot, but it is temporary, I believe she will have much more data over time.

So I recently I have been doing some experiments.

      1. I know that my current laptop and desktop works fine for me, the laptop has an i3 7100u and the desktop has a i7 6700k paired with a gtx 1650 super which i upgraded from a i5 7400
      2. The I3 is 7th gen, the i5 is 7th gen the i7 is 6th gen, this is important because my work laptop which give eye strain is a i5 7300u which in theory should work for me because they are both 7th gen intel chips but it dos not.
      3. All these chips that work has a graphic max dynamic frequency of 1.0 GHz and was released Q3 2016 and before. And all the chips that don't work has a dynamic frequency of 1.10 GHz and was released in Q1 2017 and newer.
      4. Note. I am disregarding my desktop CPUs because the GTX is what is driving the display.

      Next steps

      1. I am going to return my surface laptop2 which has a 8th gen Intel chip for a surface laptop 1 which has a 7th gen chip that meets the requirements for what i think works fo me.
      2. They both have the same displays so we will see what happens when i get the surface laptop 1.

Business-Eyes Are you sure you're posting this in the correct thread? It seems post was intended for another topic
