I now have (no money) a 3060ti and a 2060 to test. They are both largely the same, I feel the 2060 doesnt affect me as much as the 3060ti however it is still significant.

Everything is the same, only difference is GPU. I reinstalled drivers same version but same issue.

Initially on day 1 with 2060 I could feel it hurt my eyes, they felt sore initially, this pain slowly got worse then I feel from my head, I can feel pain inside my head, it gest worse, pressure pain, I feel disorentated, my head feels heavy and there is significant pressure pain. Eye drops help my eye issues as it feels my eye gets very dry.

I test monitor output (IPS and TN tested PWM free no flicker) on full and limited RGB, full is slightly brighter when using a light meter app, I get symptoms on either setting though but testing on limited as it slightly dims the color intensity

This 'migraine' continues for several hours after stopping use of the machine, into the next day. Exposure for only a few minutes is enough to cause symptoms.

I use my 1660super though, everything is ok, no issues at all.

My last resort is to try another monitor, I do not own a VA monitor so I'll try to get one of those.

Don't think that's going to help if the card itself is so problematic.

      JTL

My only thought is that the card controls what the output does on the screen, but perhaps the monitor technology can also affect things. I have to rule it out otherwise I'll never know.

If i had a CRT I'd try that as well but I dont think there are any left.

I will at some point also try it on my very old CCFL TN screen that has PWM but never caused me problems (unless it was the cause of all my problems)

What else is money for anyway but spending….

edit: because my 1660s is not ok with my high refresh ips screen, but is ok with my normal ips screen. I get very similar symptoms from the high refresh screen even on a lower refresh rate. This is my thinking that maybe a VA panel will work with the RTX cards

      It didnt work 🙁

Trying again on my TN screen but setting SRGB windows defaults and icc profile seems to be helping a bit but its not a cure just again allows me to 'bounce back' after using the 2060 quicker. I had similar with the 3060ti but eventually I had to stop testing each day as I couldnt take the pain and discomfort.

      • I bought a PC two years ago, a GTX1650 graphics card, and a Monitor. From the first 30 minutes, I felt a burning in my eyes and pain in my left eye. I left it for a week and had dry eyes until now. I thought the problem was with the screen . I tried 3 Monitor from different companies. I bought 4 blue light glasses, I sold the PC and bought  MSI GF63 laptop, GTX1650 graphics card, and I still suffer from the same problem.  Please, my life has turned into hell. I majored in computer science at the university and I cannot look at the screen for 10 minutes. I tried everything except changing the graphics card. I am thinking of buying a laptop with an AMD graphics card, provided that the graphics card is not modern because the new graphics cards I expect are causing me eye strain،please any advice?  Knowing that I have had a Dell laptop for 7 years and I have not had any problems

Mrwan Sorry to hear you are having a hard time.. there are some possibilities to explore.. reflective-LCD display (no backlight), e-ink display, OLED display.

Don't buy any more laptops or displays until you get a setup that is "stable" for you and then you can start exploring.. do you still have that Dell laptop?

Sunspark I am sure that the problem is in the graphics card because I tried everything, I had a PlayStation 4 and I was playing on a large Samsung screen and I arrived I was not facing any eye strain, I connected the laptop to the screen and nothing changed, only eye strain

greddy i think i have found solution for your problem. Same as you, i get eye strain for gpu card like rtx 3050, 3060ti,3070,2060. Then i change my prosesor from ryzen 3500x to i5 12400. And i switch the display hdmi from gpu rtx 3070 to the hdmi motherboard. So i use igpu intel HD. And voila, my eyestrain is gone. Even if i play a game.in game option i still can choose to use rtx 3070 but without eye strain. Hope this can help u

ludwig Nice solution! Any downside? Like an increases of latency?

            Since I started having this problem I haven't changed PC so I am still stuck with a ryzen 1700X + RX480 + Alienware aw2518hf.

I have never had a problem with this setup except with windows 10 2004 where I was literally destroyed. I am now using 21H1.

I need to change the whole PC but I am thinking to change everything except the GPU (with a ryzen 7900X) and try not to format. If all goes well, I will try to format with W11.

Then next year change the GPU to a 4070 / 7800.

Buying an intel 13 series would have the advantage of having intel video output, however I would definitely have to format if I switch from amd to intel!

What a stress not to be able to buy what you want and be happy!

It is interesting to know if there will be any improvements if you do the following settings:
              - Make custom resolution with same resolution but specify timing standart CVT
              Custom resolutions
              Timing
              - And choose radio button "Use nvidia color settings" in Change resolution section.

I'm not sure, but I kind of feel an improvement.

I'll leave some notes here so I don't forget.
Anyway, I've been experimenting with reinstalling different versions of windows and I noticed that if I install a new OS with Intel UHD Graphics or GT 730 there is no strain. But as soon as I install 3070, my eyes hurt. But that's not the main thing, the main thing is that if I take out the 3070 and turn on the UHD or GT 730, the problem remains. Display Driver Uninstaller or just uninstalling old drivers does not help. Of course, my eyes don't burn out as much as with the 3070, but the discomfort is still there.
From this I can conclude that the nvidia driver installed in conjunction with a modern video card changes something in the system that is not part of the driver itself.
It still seems to me that the problem lies in the area of monitor tamings.

CepheiHR8938 Had a case when a start menu replacement app(start10 from stardock) changed something not only in the os but also in bios. Only reflashing bios returned strain to normal.

I have RTX 3070 and give me eyestrain, eye burning sensation, feel sleep all day, and headache.

My solution: use hdmi from monitor to motherboard. I use i5 12400. So when u browsing, watching movie it will use igpu. When play game, it will use rtx 3070.

And then go to intel graphic command center. Setting this to 35

With this setting so good for eye. Dont fell eye burning sensation again. Hope this help

Hi guys! I've been experiencing the same problem as you for last 3 yrs, but today I came up with some other solution.

I have RTX 2060 and especially during gaming, I couldn't play for longer than 30 mins. After that time, my eyes become red, I got headache and things like that. And it was very extreme, I mean the eye strain was killing me and all I had in my mind then to just close them for an hour and take some rest. My gf and friend felt similar, when we were playing some local coop games.

I've been trying everything from software point of view - drivers reinstalls, old drivers, low details, adjust Nvidia Control Panel and so on. Literally everything I could find on the net.

Today I decided to try playing games on linux-based OS. So I installed Linux mint on second disk since I have experience with this OS already, and then installed necessary software on it, like Steam, GPU drivers, and other helpful stuff.

And I gotta say that the difference is huge, in a positive way. First thing I noticed, that even web-browsing was nicer today, because on windows I could feel some strain after an hour (no that big as during gaming, but still), on mint I can surf for much longer. But coming back to gaming, I was be playing The Witcher 3 for about 2 hrs and then I didn't feel any strain or headache at all. So it seems that the driver on windows is not working in the best way, at least in my case, since I couldn't play for even an hour without any problems.

And I know and understand that linux-based os might be hard for some, since it's not as user-friendly as windows, but if you are able to easily go deeper into your windows machines with drivers, overclocking and stuff like that, I would suggest give linux a shot. I mean, it's not that hard to use today. When it comes to gaming, most titles are there (like the witcher, for instance), but some of them are not (like fifa 21 in my case, it's possible to run it but it doesn't work that good, since it's not supported really well I would say, to keep it simple).

Today many things are moved towards web-browsers and web apps, so it's really easier than it was 5-10 yrs ago or even 3 yrs ago (I was using linux then, and I can see the progress it's made).

Great job finding something that is working for you.

Were you using the Nouveau drivers or the proprietary ones?

dkaluza19 I'm a dead by daylight player, I'd like to know if Is possible to play that game, because It has and anticheating syatem.
