Depressed...

Guys, are you now implying that a specific app on a phone or a browser on a computer can cause eyestrain!?!?
I thought the problem resided solely on OS updates. I ask because after factory-reseting my Android phone last May and never re-updating the app which I thought takes care of the graphics I have been experiencing again terrible eyestrain. Actually pain behind my eyes and in my neck. Crazy how seconds can trigger neck discomfort...
The only thing I did has been adding apps and updating apps except Chrome and Android WebView.
Like hpst, I start feeling desperate. Every day there is something new and worse, and I never come to a conclusion :-(
I cannot comment on Android, but I am convinced that certain applications on Windows 10 can cause me problems (significant discomfort) ie Firefox, the newest Chrome and also Lockheed Martin's V4 of Prepar3d (flight simulator). Why them and nothing else I have no idea at all...
Gurm Geeez, to me nightmare n.2 after the factory-reset of May started exactly in early September...
However, there seems to be something in the light which bothers me and did not before...that is my main point...it hurts even if I watch a football game, even if I just stare at the screen without reading...maybe Galaxy On5 is a cheap phone and the display got screwed? Aging?
I keep looking into e-ink options but not much is happening. Yotaphone 3 and soon HiSense A6 but they are not available where I live, and I would like a phone, not a portable movie theater screen :-(

JTL I read something somewhere that Apple did this on purpose, though no evidence was offered to prove this. Supposedly people were running the command and returning their laptops because they had an LG panel like AgentX20's, and they were looking for a Samsung panel instead. This part I do believe.
AgentX20 Here are the details.
Thanks a lot for the effort. Appreciate it!

@Gurm any chance to get those details from the "magic laptop" you saw? I bought myself a late 2013 version which was very good at first (I think) and seems to have gotten worse after an EFI upgrade. So it would be cool if you could get the data somehow to compare
(the upgrade was made when I updated from 10.13.4 to 10.13.6 and it seems I cannot downgrade the firmware...)
JTL I'll try and find more details if you're interested.
That would be great of course. I already tried extracting the .scap
file from the OSX update and following the guide here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/did-yosemite-update-boot-firmware.1818849/#post-20908661 (without removing the other snap file. Maybe I should have because it did not really work.).
Did not plan to end up like this guy:
https://youtu.be/oScvBTR_L4Q?t=987as I do not have an external EEPROM programmer at hand...
Gurm have 3 kids to support, and am beginning to feel like we're very close to a place where I won't be able to work AT ALL, which is terrifying to me.
I'm feeling this way recently too. I don't know how much longer we can cling to these old devices. Like many people on here, I also make a living in IT. Guess I'll have to work in a gas station or something.

ryans Bars, gas stations, manual labor, oil rig work, construction, locksmithing, plumbing... I have a list for worst case There are also good paying jobs that dont require long exposure to screens, but you need training for them of course. I would miss movies an reading on a laptop, but I wouldnt miss computer based work. Also if this issue doesnt get solved and Ill have to change work, I will make sure Ill medialize it as much as possible.
Yeah it totally sucks. I had to give up the idea of ever having a computer job a long time ago. I work for an elevator company but I have to wear orange glasses for 9 - 10 hours a day just to survive. I have been wearing them for two years now just to be able to work under the LED lights. It's really hard when you have a family to support.
