AgentX20

This issue seems to have turned us all into hoarders.

I have a stack of new CCFL monitors. Stacks of GPUs, stacks of motherboards so I can at least keep using win7 for media for time to come. More light bulbs than I'd like to admit

It makes you look like a crazy person. it's annoying finding somewhere to keep all this stuff too.

Soreeyes At least I have the luxury of living in a house with a garage.

Ironicily for all that space I don't have as much as I'd like for my "home office"

    4 days later

I can confirm my good MacBook Pro is an early 2013 model. Absolutely PERFECT for all day usage.

AgentX20 Could you please confirm its macbook pro 15in early 2013 with nvidia gt650m 1gb video memory?
Ill try to get it here. Also please what version of OS do you have.

      Here are the details.

Sadly, I've been unable to find out how to get at the low level details to confirm the panel manufacturer. I know I've done it in the past, but I just can't find the right syntax/commands.

The only downside to this laptop is the screen anti glare covering has started to erode following screen cleaning but that's a small price to pay for comfort - and is largely invisible during everyday use.

        AgentX20

        ioreg -lw0 | grep "EDID" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r

Sunspark I've tried that command before it just returns Color LCD with my 2015 MBP running 10.11.6

Sunspark Thanks, I get the string "LP154WT1-SJA2", which I believe denotes an LG panel.

Guys, are you now implying that a specific app on a phone or a browser on a computer can cause eyestrain!?!?
I thought the problem resided solely on OS updates. I ask because after factory-reseting my Android phone last May and never re-updating the app which I thought takes care of the graphics I have been experiencing again terrible eyestrain. Actually pain behind my eyes and in my neck. Crazy how seconds can trigger neck discomfort...
The only thing I did has been adding apps and updating apps except Chrome and Android WebView.
Like hpst, I start feeling desperate. Every day there is something new and worse, and I never come to a conclusion :-(

I cannot comment on Android, but I am convinced that certain applications on Windows 10 can cause me problems (significant discomfort) ie Firefox, the newest Chrome and also Lockheed Martin's V4 of Prepar3d (flight simulator). Why them and nothing else I have no idea at all...

AgentX20 100%. Chrome after v68 did something... bad. Firefox after a certain version (57? 54? Someone fill me in here) did too.

AGI That, unfortunately, is EXACTLY what we're saying. Google has changed the font on all their apps, irrespective of the version (I can't guarantee that launch versions would be similarly affected, but my apps were all updated in early September and the font change kicked in THIS WEEK).

Gurm Geeez, to me nightmare n.2 after the factory-reset of May started exactly in early September...
However, there seems to be something in the light which bothers me and did not before...that is my main point...it hurts even if I watch a football game, even if I just stare at the screen without reading...maybe Galaxy On5 is a cheap phone and the display got screwed? Aging?

I keep looking into e-ink options but not much is happening. Yotaphone 3 and soon HiSense A6 but they are not available where I live, and I would like a phone, not a portable movie theater screen :-(

JTL I read something somewhere that Apple did this on purpose, though no evidence was offered to prove this. Supposedly people were running the command and returning their laptops because they had an LG panel like AgentX20's, and they were looking for a Samsung panel instead. This part I do believe.

Sunspark Yes. My uncle has a 2012 15" Macbook Pro with the LG (iirc) and the first iteration of the LG Retina panels had awful smearing and temporary "burn in"
