Thank you @aiaf , you saved my eyes. Thanks to your app can tolerate MacBook Air M2 2022
Use BetterDisplay and enable unlocking color profiles instead of the XDR Presets
VSABALAIEV78 I would advise to be careful with BOE panel based screens, as none of them have shifted bluelight peak (high phototoxicity) , which means they might be comfortable for someone eyes (not for my) , but unhealthy nonetheless. I mean I get that, if the only thing that works for you is BOE, then yeah use it, but before try Eyesafe and TUV Hardware Low Blue light certified panels, and make sure none of the fit you.
VSABALAIEV78 This is great, thank you
Stillcolor v1.1 released
https://github.com/aiaf/Stillcolor/releases/latest
Improved code and added the option to disable
uniformity2D
on the embedded display.Note: due to a bundle naming mistake on the first release, you will need to reselect "Launch at login" and add Stillcolor to your your login items again.

Sentiny Hi there,
here is an updated interim build, simply go to Image Adjustments where you can set both GPU Dithering and Uniformity Correction.
These are the toggles:
All recent screens seem to bother my eyes. I think that the intense backlight is the culprit.
I bought the M1 air right after it was released and it always bothered my eyes. I tried all the usual stuff, even a matte blue light defuser but no help.
I even bought a M2 air thinking my issue might be PWM, but it was worse for me so I returned it.
So, I've been hardly using it until Stillcolor.
Now, I am using BetterDisplay and FontSmoothingAdjuster and a Whitepoint reduced ColorLCD profile. Also I use DarkReader on Firefox and Thunderbird - not Dark Mode MacOS.
But Stillcolor really made the difference for me. I can use the screen for hours with hardly any fatigue. I even removed the defuser and can use the glossy screen again.
You done good aiaf.
Notebook check says that M1 Air loses PWM at 50% brightness and above. You can manage this with BetterDisplay if you need the brightness to be less than that.
Rtings says the M1 Air does not have PWM at any brightness. So who knows.
I don't notice any PWM on my M1 Air. And Stillcolor seems to have stopped the dithering.
Thanks again aiaf.
VSABALAIEV78 ahh okay I thought there was a workaround with turning off FRC lol
twomee could be the PWM on the built-in display of your MBP. Set the refresh rate to 60Hz instead of ProMotion and the color profile to sRGB. Also try BetterDisplay's brightness and color controls to reduce blue light. I find most comfort using HDMI with an external display like the Samsung G7 or the LG 4K UltraFine 32", but that's just me.

Ranked on a 1-10 scale based on symptom severity.
All laptops running Ventura unless otherwise specified. All using default display settings.
MBA 13" M1 -- Instant eyestrain and nausea. (10/10 I only used this for a few minutes. Brutal)
MBA 13" M2 -- Delayed eyestrain, no nausea. (6/10 I used this for a week. The eyestrain starts off mild and increases over time. I can only use it for 15-30 minutes before it's too painful. Not sustainable for long-term use.)
MBA 15" M2 -- Instant eyestrain and nausea. (9/10 I only used this for a few minutes. Much worse than the 13" version.)
MBP 14" M3 -- Instant eyestrain and nausea. (9/10 I only used this for a few minutes. Very uncomfortable.)
MBP 13" M2 -- Mild eyestrain, no nausea. (3/10 I used this 1.5 hours daily for 6 days. No major issues using the preinstalled Ventura. HOWEVER -- when I upgraded to Sonoma, it was immediately unusable. I can only use this machine running Ventura.)
MBP 14" M1 Pro -- Mild eyestrain, no nausea. (2/10 I used this 2-3 hrs daily for 10 days. Used for up to 5 hours in one day with no major issues using the preinstalled Sonoma. HOWEVER - when I downgraded to Ventura, the eyestrain kept getting worse. I can only use this machine running Sonoma.)
MBP 16" M2 Pro-- Instant eyestrain, mild nausea. (8/10 I only used this for a few minutes. Could be a 9/10 or 10/10 but I'm unwilling to find out.)
MBP 16" M1 Pro -- Mild eyestrain, no nausea. (2/10 I have only used this for 1 hour so far, seems not too bad. Running Sonoma.)

Hi everyone,
I just want to share my possible solution for the eyestrain on M1 MacBook pro 16. I’ve been using MacBook Pro 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021 for the past few years. I get no fatigue or eyestrain on 2015 model. But I am severely affected by 2017, 2019 and 2021 MacBooks. M1 MBP is the worst among all these models, I get eyestrain within 2 minutes and it lasts at least for the whole day. For the M1 model, I tested all kinds of the possible suggestions including disable True Tone, promotion, select srgb profile, turn off font smoothing, adjust brightness, etc. None of them works for me, it’s just like the whole screen is waving or shaking which makes me extremely hard to focus.
Then I tried a color profile called PAL & SECAM Video(BT.601 EBU). Once I switch to the profile, I instantly notice the screen become static and I can easily focus, read the text just like I’m using mbp 2015. Although it does not 100% solve the problem, I can look at the screen the whole day with a little fatigue. With the profile, I also tested the above settings and there’s no problem for me.
If you didn’t try this color profile, I hope it works for you.
