This thread is eye opening. (no pun intended). somehow my hi spec'd system from 3 or so years ago isn't eligible for Win 11 because of my i7 version. I'm planning on a new build and considered upgrading my 1070 with something newer, but now I'm very concerned. I guess I will build around itā¦
Trying to think out of the box, since these newer cards still support 8 bit profiles, I'd like to rule out temporal dithering. Brightness tends to be controlled by the display, so I am hypothetically ruling out PWM. This leads me to think that it could be how the screen is redrawn. Deciding what order the pixels are drawn.
On a slightly different note, here are some differences between the 1070 and the 3070 that may be worth mentioning:
- The 3070 supports NVIDIA DLSS. The 1070 does not.
- The 3070 supports Ray Tracing. The 1070 does not.
- The 3070 supports DirectX 12. The 1070 does not.
The 3070 has upgraded encoding and decoding. Pascal vs Ampre:
