By the way: i feel similar feelings when i used intel graphics in processors newer that 8 generation. I mean: I feel good on 8th intel generation with 21H2 but on 10th or 11th intelgeneration i feel straining even if i use comfort OS(win 7, 8, 10. 1121h2 etc). I think that it is kind of algorythm that could be in os or in hardware. If we can detect what is the difference between 21H2 and 22H2, maybe it would be a key to understanding.

And how does your deals with Linux and macOs? And tell me, how is your experience with Android| iOs?

    I have been doing other exercises and found some benefit. However, W10 version 22H2 killed my eyes instantaneously. It took me two days to recover from 30 min use. Very frustrating.

    AGI if you have personal Windows 10, i.e. not controlled by IT, it's easy - go to setup and recovery and there's an option right in there. If you have corporate Windows 10 you have to go to the old control panel, add/remove programs, select it and uninstall. It rebooted and was back to the way it used to be for me.

    For OS changes that you know are coming and not a surprise, I think a drive backup beforehand is best. Macrium Reflect for Windows, or Clonezilla (from USB)--I have used both and both have free editions. This way, if something goes awry, you can restore without wondering too hard if the uninstall/rollback actually did restore everything exactly as it was. Of course, be mindful of what system you have, because some systems/platforms have started to deliver firmware updates through Windows Update which is a wildcard. I can't be bothered to update anymore. I took a look at 11 on my system a few months ago, it wasn't better than 10 so I took it off. 10, I have frozen for a long time now. I recognize at work you can't really do much about it on issued hardware. Sucks I know.

    Before reading your replies, I uninstalled Windows 10 version 22H2 via Windows Update. Upon clicking on "Uninstall updates" (see red circle in the first image below), I was led to the Control Panel. I uninstalled, rebooted, and added a pause to the updates till Dec 26 on top of the settings managed by my organization (see second screenshot below).

    I walked away and when I returned an hour later I found my laptop with all the apps closed. I checked and the version was again 22H2. An update was run on Nov 18 and one today (see arrows in the first image below). I uninstalled the update again and confirmed I am now on 21H2. What else can I do to block updates? This is a joke…

      You might be limited in what you can do, because it's a managed device.

      If you have a sufficiently high access you could use the group policy editor to turn it off, there is also an application that can do the same thing. But, exercise caution of course because if it's not your own device, you might attract attention from your I.T. staff (they can receive logs saying which device has what updates) and that could be a problem depending on where you are.

        There are numerous updates in every patch, and I've been working with MS Engineers to try and see what was changed in individual patches but it's not a process they seem really able to do.

        Windows 7 has an entirely different display sub system than 10. It's not surprising 7 is fine and 10 is bad

        AGI You may know and @ensete may know but only if the big high-tech guys acknowledge that there is a problem and identify a cost-effective solution there is hope in the long run.

        They will not. We are not a large enough customer group for them to care. They will eventually say "Sorry we can't help yo please try another product"

        It is not easy to completely block updates form MS. Even a the org level. Your company MSA between them and MS likely requires them to maintain a certain level of patch compliance

        How do you roll back?

        I recommend reverting to Windows 7. Windows 10 is built and designed to be constantly updating and oevr time MS will likely prevent any of the myriad work arounds stopping uopdates from working.

          I asked for some information about my higher supports, and they associated themselves with this issue when handling the upgrade to Windows 11 22H2. They also had eye strain when they upgraded it to 22H2, and what they did was update the drivers and display settings.

          I also sent them a link to your article about this issue and they mentioned that this is exactly what they experienced. In most cases, the monitor turns yellow, they say.

          This was a compatibility issue for the driver for the latest update, as not all drivers release features that are compatible with Windows 11. Basically, other interfaces can change, and this usually depends on the device driver and operating system. Not everything is the same, what I can best suggest right now is to do another article for our Microsoft engineers to let them know what happened so that the next update will cover it. You can ask your questions on our website support.microsoft.com.

          Let me send you a link so that Microsoft engineers can solve this problem.

          Again, please wait another couple of weeks for a response, if we're lucky, chances are there will be an answer this week.

            Yes it is the main goal. Cause if we know a reason. it will be easier to fix this problem not only windows, but with linux, macos, android and new videocards. Of couse if the reason is same)

            Does this mean Microsoft's own people updated drivers to fix the eye strain, or, updated display settings?

            Thanks! Unfortunately, I cannot install this kind of software on my business laptop. As per post above, I paused updates by the maximum number of days allowed (35) in Windows Update Settings. That will do for a while. Then, if version 22H2 reinstalls and it is still uncomfortable, I will reverse the update again and set a new pause.

            My IT admin rolls selected security patches once a month and was unaware of MS updates sneaking through. He now suspects that there is a limit to what our organization can control in terms of updates, as you suggested. However, since no one in the company is bothered by this issue, he sounded like he is not going to investigate the matter further.

            It is great that MS staff have experienced issues too. However, my display did not run yellow, so it might be a different problem. Anyhow, good work! Thanks for your persistence!

            PS: after reversing from 22H2 to 21H2, I forgot to deactivate Google automatic updates. Yesterday I rebooted my laptop and had a bit of eyestrain afterwards. It took me a while to realize a new version of Chrome had installed, and another while to re-figure out how to prevent Chrome from updating. Luckily, it looks like I can handle version 108.0.5359.73 after some initial struggle but, oh boy, what a nightmare! It is a jungle. Now the Google Update window continuously pops up.

            Hello! Today i had a conversation with support engenier again. and of course he couldn't help me. But he gave me advice to use "Feedback Hub App" - it is kind of support. BUT with engeniers and it is more about technical problem. Support agen said that in this app ansering is more quickly and there are more technical specialist there. I do not know - is it true or he just wanted to push me with my problem to other department 🙂
